| Conservation
and management of historic buildings is an area of considerable
overlap between archaeologists and conservation officers. |
| |
| England:
The Association is working with English Heritage, the Royal
Town Planning Institute (RTPI), and the Institute of Historic
Building Conservation (IHBC) to develop best practice for recording
historic buildings. This will help ensure effective use of Planning
Policy Guidance Note 15: 'Planning and the Historic Environment'
to secure adequate recording of historic buildings within the
planning process. |
| |
| The
committee also continues to lobby in every possible forum for
the introduction of planning control over the demolition of
all historic buildings. |

Guidance:
'Analysis
and recording for the conservation and control of works to
historic buildings ' (1997). Detailed advice regarding
the proper analysis and conservation of historic buildings
through the planning process can be found in this ALGAO publication.
