ALGAO response to National Planning Policy Framework Consultation

The Association welcomed the government’s repeated affirmation that it was not the intention to reduce in any way the level of protection for the historic environment which had been set out in the widely welcomed PPS 5, published in 2010. However, the response sets out concerns that the wording of the Framework as it stands significantly reduces the protection of the historic environment through the planning system and particularly the protection of the vast majority of heritage assets that are not designated.
