The Conservation & Management of Rural Buildings

Monday, 6 November, 2017 (All day) to Tuesday, 7 November, 2017 (All day)

This course is for historic environment managers and professionals encountering historic rural buildings as part of consultancy work and decision-making, and will explore the conservation, management, and development of rural sites. It will also include a field trip to visit current projects and recent building work. Attendees will learn about:

  • considering the setting of rural buildings
  • planning and land management
  • Neighbourhood Plans and the contribution of historic character
  • issues to consider during the conversion and maintenance of buildings
  • a practical workshop on the assessment of farmsteads

The course will be delivered by Jeremy Lake (independent expert), and Adam Partington (Locus Consulting).
