ALGAO:UK FULL ASSOCIATION MEETING

Open Day at Portobello, Edinburgh

An open day at excavations in Portobello will provide an opportunity for people to catch a glimpse of Portobello’s industrial past. Evidence relating to the 19th and 20th century production of bottles and bricks has been revealed during excavations by AOC Archaeology Group. This work is being undertaken in advance of development by Barratt Homes at their site at Baileyfield Crescent, Edinburgh.

As part of Scotland’s Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology 2017, Historic Environment Scotland asked people to tell them about the places in Scotland that matter to them. 2,000 people from across all of Scotland’s local authorities took part in the conversation about how Scotland’s places, buildings and monuments should be recognised and celebrated.
